Car-X Auto Centre Limited a major Goodyear Dealer sells Tyres and related services from three locations in Jamaica. Since Tyre sales usually involve fitting, balancing and alignment, which take time, the transaction turnover time is longer. However, the tyre business is very completive and the margins are very thin, in addition tyre inventory costs are relatively high.

Car-X Management needed to see the sales and inventory levels throughout the Branch network at any point in time. This would allow them to make decisions on stock levels at branches, introduce discounts or other incentives to spur sales.

Tangent designed a Virtual Private Network (VPN) based on ADSL and connected the branch network. Using Automate, the company’s management was able to view sales and inventory at real-time. The use of ADSL allowed Car-X to economically connect their branches while reaping the benefits of having an enterprise wide network. On side effect it allowed the Managing Director to view the business from any where in the world.
