AutoMate Point of Sales and Inventory Management


What equipment and software is required to run Automate?


The Automate program has two components, a client portion and a server component. The Client program requires the following minimum configuration:-

    • Windows XP or higher
    • At least 512Mb, we recommend 1 GB of Memory
    • 1 GB of Hard Disk space
    • Pentium or AMD processor at least 1.8 MHz
    • Ethernet Network Card

On small configurations (1-3 Stations) the Server Portion can run on the same machine as a client; however we recommend that the Memory be increased to 2GB.

 

Typically a system with 10 stations attached will require a separate server running SQL Server, Windows Vista Ultimate, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server the more memory the better,  2 GB Minimum 4GB recommended. At least two hard disks are recommended.

 

For larger systems we suggest RAID configurations with fast disk sub systems for system requiring more redundancy we would suggest Microsoft Cluster Configurations, if you need assistance please contact our sales support for recommended configurations.



Will Automate interface with my third party accounting application?


Yes, the data is based on the open standard SQL and can be easily extracted into various applications. The system has built in support to extract sales to Peach Tree Accounting


Can Automate run a Hardware store?


Yes, Although Automate was designed for Auto Parts it has been successfully deployed in various types of retail businesses.


Can Automate be customized?


Yes, Tangent can provide custom reports and programs

 

Does Automate come with Source code?

 

No.


Do I need to buy SQL Server to use Automate?


No. Automate Lite comes bundled with SQL Express edition with is available for free from Microsoft. For large installations over 10 computers we recommend that MS/SQL is purchased.


Does purchasing Automate make me eligible to upgrades?


Yes, updates are available for free up to 6 months after purchase. Beyond this period you can purchase an upgraded version at a 50% discount.


Is there a warranty period?


All products except Automate Lite have a three month warranty. Automate Lite can be evaluated/used for up to a month free of cost.
